BaroGalactic is a large-scale total conversion project that replaces the ocean with space.

What this mod does

The vast emptiness of space The vast oceans of Europa have been replaced by vast nothingness. In place of water pressure, exposure to vacuum will cause rapid suffocation and heat loss over time. Hull breaches are now extra dangerous as they can suck you out of the submarine. Space exploration is very inadvisable without a means to propel yourself (e.g. a scooter).

The air thruster To ensure that submarines can still control their vertical movement, a pair of air thrusters have been installed on them. These thrusters utilise compressed oxygen to propel the vessel vertically. The oxygen is supplied directly to the thruster by pumps conveniently installed around the ship. Just make sure not to pump too much oxygen if you were planning on breathing.

Steering is now harder The removal of water also means that the vessel can accelerate almost infinitely, and will never stop by itself. Steering now requires you to properly control your speed. Too fast means you'll crash into a wall and get ejected out the breach. Too slow means that the clown will probably blow up the reactor. If power runs out or the thrusters aren't getting enough air, you could potentially head straight into a wall with no way to stop it.

Miscellaneous new features

• The top and bottom world borders have been removed (though they remain visible on sonar until I find out a way to remove that). This only affects the vanilla hard limits borders, not the cave walls.
• You finally learned how to jump. You can ragdoll to jump in the direction you're pointing at.
• You can properly throw the clown out the airlock. Grab a ragdolled character and press your Use button (default E) to throw them as hard as you can in the direction you're pointing at.
• Suit breaches: Your suit has a chance of being punctured when you take damage. This chance is higher for certain damage types. A breached suit will not protect you from vacuum. Immediate patching of the breach with anti-bleeding items is required if you're in a vacuum. Or you'll die.
• This content package currently comes with 5 vanilla submarines built-in designed for usage with this mod. (Humpback, Dugong, Hemulen, Camel, Orca). Make sure to select submarines and respawn shuttles marked as [Space]. Otherwise you won't be able to move up and down.

Warning: This mod is quite big. It is likely not compatible with mods that affect biomes and map generation. Or just a lot of mods in general. BaroGalactic should not be installed mid-campaign.

(VERY) common troubleshooting:

My game is crashing to lobby when I try to join with a long string of errors. Is CsForBarotrauma and Lua for Barotrauma enabled in your modlist? If so: Is your Server Executable in the server hosting menu set to "Lua For Barotrauma..." instead of Vanilla?

If all of those are true: You probably don't have clientside lua installed.

1. Install the Lua for Barotrauma mod.
2. Host a lobby with the server executable changed to lua.
3. Press f3 and type in "install_cl_lua".
4. Restart your game.
