Medical Laser Rifle

This mod isn't maintained anymore and has been reported to have some bugs with the latest versions of barotrauma. Feel free to copy the code however you want.

This mod adds a ranged weapon that doubles as a medical tool

The Main features of the Medical Laser Rifle are as follows:

• A cooling system that lets you fire faster when heated

• When overheating, the weapon gets temporarily disabled

• Shots deal Burn damage and heals bleeding

• When applied on a limb, it cauterizes the same amount of bleeding but deals less burn damage

The Medical Laser Rifle has been balanced to deal slightly less DPS compared to the vanilla SMG, but has a larger magazine size. Shooting accuracy is determined by medical skill and also note that the gun only cools down when held by the character

Special Interactions with Neurotrauma

When you have Neurotrauma Installed, a small added effect when applying the laser on a limb is that it also sterilizes infected wounds.

A small fact about cauterization is that while it does sterilize wounds upon application, the dead cells from burns also contribute to infections later on, which does happen on Neurotrauma.

The medical laser rifle only deals burn damage, which means it won't cause unnecessary complications like dislocations or fractures when compared to other laser weapons that deal explosive damage.

Mod Conflicts and Load Order

This mod does not conflict with any other mods. No specific Load Order required, so feel free to place it anywhere. Neurotrauma is optional as well.
