• An experimental thermal artifact powerplant Using a cutting edge (for 1800) fire tube boiler design the Cochran harnesses the apparently limitless thermal energy of a thermal artifact, giving it virtually unlimited range.

However the free energy comes at a cost, without careful management of the firebox the massive boiler is more than capable of rapidly melting the little sub's entire electrical grid into molten slag and immolating anyone unfortunate enough to be in the main compartment.

Watch the battery percentage carefully and take immediate action to prevent overvolting.

In game Description

A recent relaxation on the regulations regarding the sale and use of alien artifacts and the resulting influx of cheap artifacts have created an odd market condition where artifacts as powerful as low grade reactors can be procured for fractions of the price. This has lead to odd subs such as the Cochran, small unwieldy subs built en mass by beacon station manufacturers to capitalize on these unforeseen circumstances.

Notes

Saw a couple mid fire subs and figured I might as well take a crack at the concept, I at least think I did pretty well but idk how well my take on "free energy but you all burn to death lol" will play out in an actual campaign setting

Trivia: A Cocran boiler is a type of vertical draft fire tube boiler (that I really like the look of).
