Hinamizawa Syndrome

The Hinamizawa syndrome , also known as "Oyashiro-sama's curse", a parasitic pathogen originating from the mythical earthling town of Hinamizawa, has managed to spread to the inhospitable enviroment of Europa. Due to how widespread the disease is, virtually everyone is susceptible to falling victim to the Hinamizawa Syndrome on Europa

THE HINAMIZAWA SYNDROME

** This mod adds the Hinamizawa Syndrome from the Higurashi When they cry series as an affliction, an affliction that effectively makes you go insane over time and kill yourself **

The Hinamizawa syndrome can be acquired by either being directly injected by the pathogen, or through contracting it by prolonged exposure to severe trauma (bleeding, suffocating while unconscious)

The syndrome's common symptoms include severe paranoia, hallucinations, aggression and visions of "Oyashiro-sama" Once you are infected, getting cured is impossible

STAGE 1 AND 2

The dormant stages of the disease. In these stages, the disease is mostly harmless, and the infected cannot be told apart from the healthy. Symptoms include very rare hallucinations. The disease progresses slowly and will progress to stage 3 in roughly 5 minutes and 33 seconds (if not sped up by external factors)

STAGE 3

In this stage of the disease is when the symptoms really start to show. The infected will experience paranoid delusions, and will often see or hear things not as they actually are. The infected can hallucinate hearing fellow crew members threatening their life. The disease will progress to stage 4 in roughly 4 minutes and 10 seconds

STAGE 4

The disease has completely changed the victims perception of the world. The victim cannot differentiate from reality and hallucinations anymore, and sometimes claws on their neck, drawing blood. At this point, the infected patient is highly aggressive and murderous The infected individual will periodically gain lacerations and bleeding damage from clawing their own neck Infected individuals will heal their bleeding only by attacking and killing other characters At this stage the victim's melee damage is buffed significantly, capable of killing even highly armored targets with ease AI infected will become aggressive and attack anyone they see at this point. The disease progresses to stage 5 in roughly 2 minutes and 30 seconds

STAGE 5 - THE FINAL STAGE

The most dangerous stage of the disease. At this stage, the victim has lost all sense of morality or self preservation, they will regularly claw on their neck inflicting massive injuries on themselves. Infected gets a massive buff to their melee, capable of killing any human with a single hit, and destroying walls and reinforced doors like they're nothing. In roughly a minute and 40 seconds of reaching this stage, the victim will completely claw open their throat with their own nails and kill themselves in hopes of removing the perceived "worms" inside their neck. The only way to save individuals in this stage is to administer one of the HZW vaccines, although most of the time this will just delay the inevitable. Victims treated at this stage will fall into comatose

All of the vaccines should only be applied after L3 stage, otherwise they will be less effective (Will not reduce HZW affliction, but will still slow down progression with resistance)

Hinamizawa Virus Sample

A sample of the Hinamizawa pathogen, retrieved from a live patient using the blood extractor. Stable pathogens can only be extracted from the blood of victims suffering from L5 HZW, so obtaining the samples is very difficult and risky. Required to develop vaccines

Blood extractor

A necessity to extract Hinamizawa virus samples from the blood of HZW patients. Only works on L5 infected individuals.

Costs 1 Syringe gun and requires 30 medical skill to fabricate

C-103 Vaccine

A somewhat effective vaccine capable of reducing L5 hinamizawa syndrome symptoms down to L3 with a few doses. Cannot cure infected individuals (will not reduce further than high L2), regular treatments are required to halt the development of the disease. Grants HZW resistance for a time

Costs 1 Hinamizawa Virus sample and requires 40 medical skill to fabricate

C-117 Vaccine

A much more effective vaccine capable of reducing L5 individuals to a level 3 status with just one dose, and almost completely halting the progression of the disease. Cannot cure infected individuals, and the vaccine's effects will wear off after time.

Costs 1 Hinamizawa Virus sample, 1 C-103 Vaccine and requires 50 medical skill to fabricate

C-120 Vaccine

The most advanced 'miracle' vaccine, capable of reducing L5 individuals to only L2-L3 levels, and reducing L3 individuals down to only Level 1, effectively curing them.

Costs 1 Hinamizawa Virus sample, 1 C-117 Vaccine and requires 55 medical skill to fabricate

H-173 Virus

A modified strain of C-103, capable of inducing L5 symptoms in any individual within 1-2 minutes. Injected will immediately get infected with stage 4 HZW and will be on the brink of stage 5

Costs 1 Hinamizawa Virus sample, 1 C-103 Vaccine and requires 50 medical skill to fabricate

Ceremonial Hoe

A ritualistic tool, used to disembowel Paralyzed or Stunned victims. When used on a victim, immediately gives 90 "Torturer" affliction strength to the user.

The victim must either be Paralyzed or Stunned to be disemboweled, and the ritual can only be done by a sufferer of L4+ HZW syndrome

Costs 2 Steel to fabricate

TORTURE RITUAL

Torturing humans instead of killing them straight away is beneficial, as you will get a powerful "Torturer" affliction, an affliction that allows you to reduce damage taken from self-harm and prevents suicide on the last stage.

The procedure goes as follows:

1. Reach Stage 4 Hinamizawa syndrome
2. Either handcuff, or paralyze the human with paralyzone
3. Damage the human, recommended to do it with poisons instead of melee to not kill them too fast.
4. If you want to use the Ceremonial Hoe, the victim must be paralyzed or stunned (Handcuffs aren't enough) You will gain more strength in the "Torturer" affliction the longer a victim stays alive while fulfilling these conditions.

Chat Commands

** !succumb ** -When typed by an infected human at L4+ infection, will instantly start clawing their neck out. ** !massinfect ** - When typed by the host, will add +20 hinamizawa affliction to every human. ** !mystery [strength] [amount] [hzw/husk] ** - When typed by the host, will infect a certain amount of humans with either Hinamizawa syndrome or Husk depending on the specified strength, amount and affliction type. Default adds +20 HZW affliction to a random human.

All SFX and BGM are taken from Higurashi and Umineko when they cry.
