Versus PvP Gamemode

+Welcome to Versus - our perspective on how PvP is done+

It is a mod, which allows player to become a powerful creature (Yibaka) to fight against a submarine, manned by other players. Objectives for them are: • Submarine crew must either kill Yibaka or get to the next outpost • Yibaka must sink a submarine and kill everyone aboard

INSTALLATION

1. Download this mod and Lua for Barotrauma

2. Install Lua for Barotrauma

3. Host a server with Server executable option set to Lua for Barotrauma - DedicatedServer

4. Press F3, and type install_cl_lua

5. Restart Barotrauma

HOW TO PLAY

1. Host a server with Server executable option set to Lua for Barotrauma - DedicatedServer

2. Choose Sandbox as gamemode and pick a submarine (we recommend to use Versus-provided submarines, but any other combat-specialised sub complies as well)

3. Invite your friends! One can comfortably play Versus in a lobby of 4 players, but make sure to have at least 2 bots to do the repairs on sub, while you fight for your life

4. Once game is started, suit up and press VERSUS button on the bottom right to pick Yibaka and player that will play it

5. There is also a Cheats button beneath, which sets skills to 100 and gives experience to unlock all talents - you are not obliged to use it, but we highly recommend it

6. Have fun!

P.S.: to spice things up (and because nobody ever managed to get back into the sub with Yibaka being around) we disabled respawn for the Versus. Keep it in mind: while Versus mod is active, respawn is disabled in ALL gamemodes.

YIBAKAS (playable monsters)

There are currently 4 different types of Yibakas in Versus:

Leviathan

A giant, heavily modified Fractal Guardian, with lots of guns and an abyssal-creature-sized health pool.

Overseer

A subspecies of Watcher, that summons European beasts to fight the submarine.

Endworm

Stronger and more clever that regular endworm - it has an improved bite attack and a special "barf" attack.

Clownhead

The silliest of horrors: a surgically improved Hammerhead with torpedo attack and many other deadly tricks.

SUBMARINES

Iron Hope

... this is, you know, you swim to the end, it throws you to the back, the campaign itself, at some point you get in cycle and you have to survive and lore and smth ...

... I couldn’t keep up with Dimon when he was describing it. Iron Hope specials include:

1. E.N.D.U.R.A.T.R.O.N - an Enhanced Naval Defense Underwater Resilience and Tactical Reinforcement Operations Node – is a system that makes your submarine INVINCIBLE for 30 seconds, but has very long recharge time. It can be found in the front compartment of the sub

2. Overclocked weaponry: miniguns and flak cannon were powerfully enhanced to match the threats, possessed by Yibakas

3. Salvo railguns: captain can control a pair of railguns using his sonar

4. Periscope-controlled Nuclear Torpedo (controls can be found above captains compartment; First LMB click undocks torpedo, second LMB click detonates)

5. Infinite ammo for on-board weaponry

6. Briefing room: provides additional info on Yibakas

FAQ

**Q.:**Why can’t I find this gamemode in server lobby? **A.:**Unfortunately, we couldn’t figure out how to add an actual, separate gamemode – you’ll have to pick Sandbox to properly play Versus.

**Q.:**Is it possible to play against two creatures simultaneously? **A.:**Yes, it is. Nothing restricts you from spawning whole hord of Clownheads, but make sure you have enough countermeasures do deal with it.

**Q.:**Does everybody in lobby must have lua activated client-side? **A.:**For host it's mandatory to have lua activated, because lua renders GUI and only host is permitted to launch Versus. For non-hosts it's optional, it will cause that button Versus just won't appear right bottom on your display.
