R29-E COMET II

After a long and storied service life, this R29 big rig has been overhauled many times, with the result of the latest rebuild available for you to see here. Nearly every system of this vessel has been rebuilt, entire hull segments were replaced, and many more components added. With a new paint job, and rechristened as the Comet, this premium vessel represents the pinnacle of coalition transport technology, capable of delivering any cargo or payload in good time to even the most treacherous and monster infested passages in Europa.

Drone:

Equipped with the TC280 attack drone, the Comet is also capable of providing decisive firepower to combat diver crews when flushing out monsters nests.

The TC 280 prototype comes standard with two low power chainguns, and two rocket launchers (flak cannons) for devastating attacks against both separatist scum and particularly bothersome wildlife.

The controls for this drone are situated in the small extension below crew quarters, a periscope allows remote operation with a lever controlling docking and a button controlling the rocket launchers. Pressing left mouse button makes the drone move or fire in the direction of the mouse, double click to switch between firing and movement modes.

Railgun:

The hull behind the upper airlock has been extended, allowing for the installation of a deploy able railgun system. While it can only fire 3 shots, and must be retracted for reload, this functionality allows it to not get in the way of the preexisting flak cannon or docking port. Two controls next to it’s shaft in gunnery will allow it to deploy or retract.

Operating the navigation systems:

The ship is equipped with an advanced engine system and gearbox. The gearbox can be operated in both automatic and manual mode. The activation of the switch just above the status monitor turns on the automatic functions, otherwise the two buttons in the navigation terminal allow the captain to manually shift gears. This system allows for unparalleled mobility and excellent braking force, allowing the Comet to take advantage of long straight tunnel sections to quickly cover great distances.

The third button of the navigation terminal controls a large mining laser installed below the ship’s hull. While it cannot be directly aimed, this device is immensely useful in shattering ice located in front of the vessel, allowing the Comet to blast past an icy restriction without slowing down. As a side note, it also occasionally proved very useful at incinerating large lifeforms. The laser slowly recharges leaching off ship power, and a status bar above the command seat displays it’s charge. A visual red indicator behind the seat will light up when the laser is ready to fire again.

Next to the battery and discharge coil status screen is a lever which toggles battery power, the batteries can on average power the entire submarine for 2 minutes, though increased power usage may significantly reduce this number.

Below the navigation terminal is a lever and two indicators. The R29 suffers from poor descent speed due to insufficient ballast volume, and the hull rebuilds of the Comet have made this problem significantly worse. To compensate for this, this lever will allow the ship’s airlocks to behave like ballasts, increasing the vessel’s descent speed. Neutral ballasts levels are also automatically adjusted. To further compensate for increased hull volume, an external ballast tank was also welded to the rear of the ship. (no maintenance required)
