The Europan Co-Prosperity Sphere, an alliance forged to survive and endure beneath the frozen ice of Europa, has established its ground and made its presence known. A faction within a faction, it nonetheless remains bound to the greater struggle for freedom and self-determination.

Kogekis and Noboribetsus traverse the colonies and outposts, forming the lifeline of the alliance. Kumejimas and Tachikazes patrol the narrow caverns, suppressing the hostile denizens of Europa and maintaining territorial control. Above them, Akizakuras serve as command relays, carrying orders between Headquarters and the patrol squadrons scattered across the frontier.

Yet this cohesion remains fragile beneath the overwhelming power of the Coalition.

Trade may sustain a colony, but it also exposes its lifelines. When the Coalition sends its warships to sever those connections, entire settlements can be isolated, starved, and forced into submission. The small ships of the E.C.P.S. may fight bravely, but courage alone cannot overcome the disparity in firepower. It may take many of our vessels to bring down even a fraction of the fleet that stands against us.

To die defending is a slow death. And that must change. The fight must no longer be brought to our doorstep. The fight must be taken to theirs.

No. 841A - Chōseon Romeo

The Chōseon Romeo is a Tier 3 combat-oriented Separatist submarine designed to stalk convoy routes before unleashing devastating dorsal firepower from concealment. Its heavily compartmentalized pressure hull enables prolonged combat despite severe flooding. However, the pneumatic load system limits simultaneous shipwide operation, demanding careful power management to avoid reactor failure. The Romeo embodies the E.C.P.S.'s uncompromising answer to Coalition domination.

Pneumatic Load System

The Pneumatic Load System is the Romeo's method of maintaining operational stability under sustained load. Pressurized gases are used to actuate and regulate several of the vessel's systems, allowing them to operate without placing excessive strain upon the ship's internal machinery.

Attempts to remove the system during the vessel's modification resulted in repeated instability and unacceptable mechanical stress. The submarine engineers therefore elected to retain the system in its original configuration, accepting its operational inconvenience in exchange for greater endurance under prolonged and demanding conditions.

Five Pneumatic Valves are distributed throughout the vessel. Each is clearly marked with its corresponding system designation and the letter “P”, identifying it as part of the pneumatic network. Operating a valve enables, disables, or alters the output of the system to which it is assigned.

However, every active pneumatic system places Load upon the network. As sufficient Load accumulates, the system begins generating Stress.

Should Stress reach the halfway point, the Romeo's point-defense weapons automatically engage, regardless of the Captain's orders. This provides the crew with an additional layer of protection against hostile attacks, but further increases the Load imposed upon the pneumatic network.

If Stress reaches its maximum threshold, the vessel's safety breakers automatically engage. The entire power grid is shut down and remains offline until the accumulated Load has been reduced. The crew must deactivate Pneumatic Valves and allow the system to recover until Stress returns to zero before normal operations can resume.

The Pneumatic Load System is a limitation imposed upon the Romeo's capabilities. The more the vessel demands of itself, the closer it comes to demanding everything from its crew.

The Chōseon Romeo stands apart from the vessels ordinarily deployed by the E.C.P.S. She operates alone, deep within Coalition territory, hunting merchant shipping from beneath the ice.

Her purpose is simple: disrupt trade, divert enemy forces, and become the bait that keeps Coalition commanders chasing while our colonies endure.

It is a one-way voyage. Supplied only by occasional Noboribetsu blockade runners and whatever spoils she can take from her raids, the Romeo and her crew accept their fate so that others may survive.

To her crew, the E.C.P.S. offers its gratitude. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten. You are the ones who carry the struggle beyond our borders, and whose actions may one day help bring an age of freedom and self-determination to Europa.
