Sandfall

My first Wingman map for CS2.

The map's development was documented on my YouTube channel. It took a good 100 hours of work, but after many days, nights, and playtests, I can finally call it finished... to some extent. I hope you enjoy playing on my map!

Operation Sandfall Afghanistan, 2012.

After two years of bloody conflict between government forces and rebels from the Desert Liberation Front, relative calm has finally settled over the small city of Darash. Although the war has ended, its aftermath remains visible on the city streets. The authorities of Darash have launched an ambitious reconstruction program. In the city center—on the last undeveloped square to survive the expansion of new housing estates and apartment blocks—construction has begun on a monument commemorating the end of the revolution and the residents who lost their lives. At the same time, renovation work is underway on the last remaining buildings damaged during the fighting. However, not everyone has accepted the new order. Some former rebels believe the sacrifices made during the war were in vain. In their view, the government has hijacked the victory, leaving former fighters without influence or the promised changes. To them, the square where the monument is being built symbolizes betrayal—it was there that some of the revolution's bloodiest clashes took place. A determined faction dispatches two of its members with orders to destroy the monument under construction and the old square they once fought for. The mayor learns of the planned attack from former rebels who have abandoned the movement and chosen to cooperate with the authorities. He immediately mobilizes security forces in response. One unit is tasked with evacuating nearby apartment blocks and residential buildings. Another is deployed directly to the square to prevent—at any cost—the planting or detonation of an explosive device. The battle for the heart of Darash begins anew.
