More screenshots: Duga Radar Station

You will be able to drive to military town Chernobyl-2 and Duga radar station. This is a station which was meant to early detect launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles. Its task was to detect missiles launched from USA by measuring the ionization of the ionosphere caused by gas from rocket engines. The antenna is huge: its height varies from 135 to 150m in different points, and its length is 300 to 500 meters. According to some sources, it's even more expensive than Chernobyl Power Plant itself. It's clear that it was built near the nuclear power plant due to its huge power consumption. The tragic thing about Duga-1 is that it was not even used: it was scheduled to be started in 1986, the year, when the Chernobyl disaster happened. Now this place is highly radioactive and, of course, is not used.
