Today's update adds a daily challenge game mode, a new combat log, changes to instability, and, as usual, many more minor improvements and fixes. Read on!
Daily challenge
Added a new daily challenge mode. Once per day you get to try a unique run with a fixed character and loadout.
Today's challenge
Everyone plays the same daily challenge. To keep things fair it's a true roguelike mode with everything unlocked. You cannot complete missions or unlock codex entires though—it sits entirely outside of the main story progression.
We've also added some playable characters who are only available in daily challenge, so keep an eye out!
Playing as flameproof purifier!
Your result goes onto the leaderboards, measured in either real time or total turns. Currently the leaderboards only show your Steam friends, but we may change that in future.
Combat log
Added a new combat log. This is a detailed list of every game action and interaction, both yours and your enemies the game: Damage events, kills, item equips, and more.
The combat log!
You can open the combat log at any time, either by pressing L on keyboard, or via the pause menu. There is also a button to review the combat log on the run summary screen to investigate some of those more complex deaths.
Instability changes
We're looking at some broad improvements to the instability system. So expect some changes here.
The first of these changes are in this version:
-
Stabilizers now clear mutations from any enemies in your aura, as well as any distortions that your aura touches.
-
Mutated enemies now have a small chance of appearing on instability level 0.
Next up is a review of mutations and distortions, with a focus on making them (and the choice) more interesting. As well as more granular increases to instability, and more opportunities for instability to increase.
If you have any thoughts or feedback on the instability system, please share them! You can leave your thoughts as comments here, drop them in Steam Discussions or let us know in Discord.
