Update 0.4 update
Idle Weaponsmith – Beta 0.4
Beta branch
Before you start: this update changes the save format. If any issues arise, please post in the bug reports channel in discord. This is a big update, nearly everything has been touched on. If you haven't been following the discord, this is one of 3 updates since the last main branch release from over a year ago.
New Content
-
Constructions: Large multi-stage megaprojects that require long voyages to send or receive resources and manpower
-
New professions: Bard (Chance for free Quality rankup), Researcher (faster research), Sailor (faster sailing) and Builder (more workers per shipment).
-
Story: Part 1 is now complete. 10 new chapters, Though only 5 available now through story progression.
-
15 new achievements
-
Lifetime stats tab in Records.
-
New crafted item type: Construction Items. Only the one for your active project will be available. No cluttering your options.
-
Entirely revamped Tutorial and in-game guide: You can check the tutorial out without starting a new game by going into the settings menu. There's an easter egg, I promise.
Misc Changes
-
A very large UI pass has been done: It's not finished, and it's a bit of a mismatch in places as I try to lock down a "final" style.
-
New side panel tabs for Expeditions, Refining and Contracts. Each tab appears once you unlock that feature.
-
Craft contracts have an Add job shortcut button.
-
Current Jobs now actually handles pagination if you somehow get more than 8 slots.
-
Tweaked talent roll: see every possible talent and its odds, then Keep, Reroll or Discard.
-
Retiring now asks you to confirm, and shows exactly how much Knowledge you'll get.
-
Certain terms standardized across the game.
-
New game asks before replacing a save, and offers to export it first.
-
Welcome back now shows items crafted and dungeon floors cleared while you were away.
-
Restyled tooltips, smoother progress bars, and glows on buyable nodes.
Balance
-
Dungeons pause and turn red when your party drops below the power requirement, then restart by themselves.
-
Auto-assigned parties that are too weak wait, then start by themselves.
-
Contracts keep progressing while you're offline.
-
Each blueprint level provides more power than previous.
-
From level 5, Rate upgrades cost the correct material.
-
The Knowledge leaderboard counts all Knowledge ever earned.
Bugfixes
-
Some upgrade prices shown didn't match the price charged.
-
Accepting a rolled talent rerolled the hire board.
-
The talent roll did nothing when only one talent was possible.
-
Firing an active employee failed when the bench was full.
-
Deleting a Shift did nothing. Mood.
-
The Retirement summary could show a slightly higher reward than you got.
-
The dungeon multiplier showed outrageously long decimal points.
-
Switching leaderboard tabs quickly mixed two boards together.
-
Party skills counted Tanking twice and never counted Trap Detection.
-
Resources "Show All" stopped at 20 materials.
-
Item Design estimated prices left out Knowledge, research and achievements.
-
The Cloud Save slot showed the local save when Steam Cloud was off.
-
Offline time could gain or lose an hour at daylight saving changes. I wasn't against ending DST before but now I hate it even more.
If you are coming in without having played the Experimental patch, there are additional patch notes on Discord from the last time you played.
