August Update: Mainframe, 40 New Items, Expanded Guides and More

Hey Adventurer!

August became a big month for Adventure Land. Mainframe, 40 new items, eleven new emotes, expanded guides, five new Citizens, a new Mage skill, new Steam clients, and a major CODE reliability update are all live.

Mainframe keeps your CODE running

Mainframe is Adventure Land's optional hosted CODE runtime. Choose an owned character, a saved CODE slot, and a live realm. The character can keep running inside an isolated, network-free machine after your browser closes.

Steam owners receive 250 free Mainframe hours shared across their linked Adventure Land accounts. If you leave a Mainframe assignment running after the free hours are used, it renews with Shells under the terms shown before it starts.

** Playing manually or running CODE in your browser or Steam client has no hourly cost. ** You can run CODE there for as long as you like; the 250 hours apply only to optional Mainframe hosting after your own client is closed.

40 new items and new ways to earn them

The new collection spans weapons, offhands, jewelry, armor, and crafting materials. Find them through crafting, shops, PvP Tokens, Ent drops, and new uses for materials.

Rogues also gained Fan of Knives, an item-granted skill that sends five knives at nearby targets. Priests can begin the long craft toward the Worldroot Crook, a T4 staff made from a Harbringer +8 and rare materials.

Level 90 Mages can now use Arcane Needle with a wand. It deals reduced damage while piercing resistance and reflection, and it keeps normal attack effects.

11 new emotes

The New Misc. cosmetic box now contains gravestones and eleven unlockable emotes. High Five, Boop, and Spotlight let you interact with other players. Pocket Storm brings its own weather, Mirror Disco fills the floor with reflections, and Joy bursts into a bright pixel rainbow. Every emote has a matching sound.

Drop Egg and Rising Hearts now unlock and work like other emotes too.

A clearer Tutorial and Game Guide

The Tutorial and Game Guide now explain both manual play and optional CODE paths. Nearby INFO guides point out world services, and CODE now covers more interactions, including duels, recovered-item shops, tavern games, and item de-statting.

Five new Citizens also arrived. Rook shows routes through Desertland, Patch repairs idle Mechagnomes in Cyberland, Moss echoes fairy colors in the Mystical Forest, Wick leaves warm light through the Underground Tunnel, and Brio copies nearby emotes in the Tavern.

A major CODE update

Every public asynchronous CODE function now settles on a real server result. The public API is documented from end to end, server.status provides live server data, and custom clients can use the optional MessagePack transport.

New Steam clients for Windows, Linux, and macOS

The new Steam client now covers all three desktop platforms, with more reliable Steam login, clearer diagnostics, in-client Shells purchases, and separate music and sound-effect controls. Linux dependencies are bundled, and mouse item dragging is restored on Windows.

You can also read Adventure Land's complete update history, going back to 2016, inside the game.

Everything above is live now. Adventure Land is open source, development is moving again, and we'd love to see you back.

Thank you to everyone building, testing, reporting, and playing.
