DevBlog #114 | Foundry Fridays: How To Blueprint
Hello everyone!
This is going to be a little shorter because I’m travelling this week and I have to write it in advance. Today’s blog is about the upcoming blueprint system. I’ll share some more details, especially about how to use them.
The blueprint tool
There is a new handheld tool, which acts as your gateway to the blueprint system. Bring up the radial menu and either go to your blueprint library or start creating a new blueprint. You can drag a box (or multiple) to create the blueprint of your choice. You can also remove objects from the blueprint selection if needed.
Once you’re happy with your blueprint, bring up the radial menu again and either save it to the library or instantly use it via the quick copy mode.
If you want to read more about the blueprint ghosts and personal drones, you can check out (https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/983870/view/702152588870550311).
Precision Placement
Sometimes a blueprint might be really big and therefore hard to place. For this we have an optional precision placement mode. Instead of placing your blueprint, you can go into precision placement mode, where you can move your blueprint voxel by voxel.
Library & Sharing
I do not have a video or screenshots from the library, because we haven’t yet finished up the UI, but it’s pretty much what you’d expect. You can save your blueprints, organize them in folders and we have an export/import system that makes it easy to convert your blueprint into a sharable text and let someone else import it.
Alright, that’s it for today. As always, I would welcome any kind of feedback. Do you like the way it works? Any ideas to improve it? Thanks in advance.
See you next time, -mrmcd
