The Fate Connection gameplay has been launched: Flying swords delivering lette
Bonds come and go, like wind that leaves no trace. The road to eternity is long, and meeting you along it is a joy beyond words.
This update adds Fated Bonds. The Interaction page in the character panel is now Fated Bonds: exchange flying-sword letters with cultivators across the world, form master-disciple and Daoist-friend bonds, send your disciples on errands, and people who share a bond with you will come looking for you on their own.

Fated Bonds: Flying-Sword Letters
-
Interaction is now Fated Bonds: the list on the left is grouped by lineage, Daoist friends, sworn siblings, grudges and more, and the five hearts beside each name show how deep the bond runs. The right side holds your letters with that person.
-
Choose a purpose first: greetings, discussing the Dao, missing someone, gifts, seeking advice, passing on techniques and more. Carried by flying sword, a letter spends a few days on the road; the other side replies after reading it, and your bond changes accordingly. Items can be sent with a gift letter.
-
Write from anywhere: a small flying sword now appears under NPC names, so you can write right away from their details or while pressing E to interact. Names in the message bar can be clicked.
-
Letters come to you: people you share a bond with write when they move, when a friend passes away, or when they break through; they ask for help when injured, hunted by enemies, or falling to inner demons; they may also invite you to meet, or come to visit in person.
-
Fly to them, or track them: with a deep enough bond you can fly by sword to where they are, and Track marks them on the list and the map.
Fated Bonds: Masters, Disciples & Daoist Friends
-
Form a bond: ask to become someone's disciple, ask to take them as your disciple, or ask to become Daoist friends. They accept or decline as they see fit, or set you a trial first; once they agree, a ceremony seals the bond. NPCs will also ask you, and their requests wait for your answer under New Bonds.
-
Yearly customs: disciples send spirit stones with a letter every year, your master sends a New Year letter, and disciples report their breakthroughs. A disciple who reaches their master's realm may graduate; you can also let them graduate, expel them, or part ways.
-
Train your disciples: change their equipment, feed them pills to shorten the time to breakthrough, and teach them techniques. Daoist friends with a deep bond can be trained as well.
-
Seek your master's advice: if your bond is deep enough, your master may copy out a technique you are able to learn right now and send it with a letter.
Fated Bonds: Master's Orders
Thirteen kinds of orders can be given to your disciples:
Secluded Cultivation
Training Journey
Gather Spirit Materials
Gather News
Come See Me
Escort & Guard
Attempt a Breakthrough
Refine Pills for Me
Deliver Letters & Items
Hold a Post
Sparring Test
Take Revenge for Me
Serve the Sect
-
Obey and report back: disciples obey or decline depending on your bond and their own situation, and report back with what they gained when the time is up. You can reward or punish them on their report, and hurry them or call them back mid-errand.
-
Real actions: if a disciple's errand takes place in your current scene, they actually meditate, follow you, or slay monsters. Dangerous errands carry a risk of injury or even death.
-
Your master gives you orders too: secluded cultivation, gathering spirit materials to hand over, paying a visit, and training journeys (slaying monsters in a named wilderness). A master may also set you a trial when you ask to become their disciple. Orders left unanswered lapse after one year.
Fated Bonds: Aid, Chronicle & Past Lives
-
Aid: when someone comes to fight you, your master, disciples, Daoist friends and sworn siblings rush in according to how deep your bond is, and the one with the deepest bond always comes. Those who cannot make it in time visit after the battle and stay for a few days. Helpers who fall are only badly wounded and lose no lifespan.
-
Chronicle: a new Chronicle entry at the top of the list records the breakthroughs, deaths, serious injuries and bond events of the people you share a bond with. You can congratulate, console or offer condolences.
-
Past Lives: after reincarnation, your master, disciples, Daoist friends and sworn siblings from your previous life will come and recognize you. Your bond starts at Kindred Spirits, and renewing old ties is easier.
Fated Bonds: Bond Stories
Three new bond stories, each with choices and different endings:
The Inner Disciple
The Unruly Disciple
A Heart Given
After you become a disciple
After you take a disciple
With someone you are kindred spirits with
Steam Workshop: Bond Records
The MOD editor's left column gains a Bond Records group of eight tables, for making your own bonds, orders, letters and stories:
Bond Types
Letter Purposes
Letter Texts
Master's Orders
Story Arcs
Story Beats
Personalities
Tuning Values
-
Direct entry: the Advanced Content row of the Create Mod menu now has a Bond Records button, and the list on the left scrolls straight to this group when it opens.
-
One-click ID copy: every table's ID row (item ID, recipe ID, reward library ID and so on) has a Copy button beside its label, so you no longer have to retype IDs into the reward library.
Other Changes
-
Nearly four hundred new cultivation-style names for random NPC names, with gentler names for women. Fixed odd names caused by compound surnames being split apart. This only affects NPCs born from now on and random names at character creation.
-
Other bug fixes and MOD improvements.
