KIS/KAG Experimental Beta Updates, Version 1.6.2

Howdy Immortals — we have another update for our KIS and KAG Experimental Branches, Version 1.6.2. This update drastically reduces the game-start loading time, adds a new lobby joining sound, and contains other additions and fixes you have asked for.

How to play right now: Restart Steam, then right-click Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns or Kohan: Ahriman's Gift in your library — Properties — Game Versions & Betas — select the experimental branch. If the branch is missing or the update will not download, fully exit and restart Steam.

What's in the update:

• **Loading Time: **The game should start in a fraction of the time it used to take

• **Lobby Join Sounds: **A new General Menu option has been added, called Lobby Join Sounds. It is currently off by default, and it plays a sound and flashes the taskbar icon when a player joins your hosted game or the global chat. We will try to address enabling alt+tabbed background audio as an option in the future.

• **Main Menu Display: **A third setting has been added to the Main Menu Display option, “Pillarbox (Menus Only).” This should help people who want to keep the Pillarbox/black bars in their main menus, while not having them in-game. Stretch to Fill and Preserve Aspect are unchanged.

• **Keybinds: **The list now shows thirteen bindings at once instead of only seven, filling the panel properly

• **Cursor Fixes: **The move and forced-retreat flag cursors no longer show a purple shadow or flicker. Also, Alt-tabbing back into the game no longer traps the pointer in a small area for a few seconds.

• **Elapsed Game Time: **Opening and closing the construction menu no longer leaves a duplicated time clock on screen

• **Message Duration: **The Message Fade Speed slider has been renamed to Message Duration. Its maximum duration is now up to sixty seconds.

 

Known issues to be addressed in a future hotfix:

• Activating multiple mods at once can corrupt the game files/installation (potentially requiring a reinstallation of the game + deleting the mods folder)

• Issues surrounding viewing old films

 

If you want to play with your friends, please make sure you are all on the same branch and the same version number, indicated by the bottom-left number in the main menu. The default and original-release branches are unchanged.
